90-Minute Course Description

“Building A Fine Art Image Before You Ever Open Photoshop”

Fine art portraits don’t start in Photoshop, they start with intention. In this 90-minute program,

we’ll break down how lighting, composition, and color choices work together to create portraits

that feel emotional, timeless, and painterly before heavy editing ever begins.

This course blends clear teaching with a few short, live Photoshop demos to show how smart

capture decisions dramatically simplify the edit later. You’ll see how small adjustments in color

harmony, tonal direction, and composition can completely change the mood and impact of an

image.

What we’ll cover:

● How to design a fine art portrait from concept to capture

● Lighting choices that support emotion (not just “good exposure”)

● Compositional structure that leads the eye and creates balance

● Color theory for fine art portraits (why certain palettes feel “heirloom” and intentional and

others feel chaotic)

● Short, focused Photoshop demos showing:

○ The power of using color

○ Painterly tonal shaping

○ Scene manipulation for context and composition

This class is designed to give you clarity, confidence, and a strong foundation all while showing

you exactly what we’ll expand on during the hands-on workshop.
